Petco?

I was at Petco looking at a new collar for my dog and was surprised by the amount of saltwater life this Petco had. I know not all of them have this big of a selection as the one next to my house doesnt, but I was surprised that this one did.

I was surpised to see most of the fish looking healthy with the exception of a couple that looked a little beat up.

For anyone interested it is the Petco in Brick. Heres some of the stuff they had:

Foxface
emperor angels
firefish gobys for 7.99 on sale this week
spotted mandarins
gold head goby
Percs
Hogfish
Spotted Grouper
Sea Horses
Damsels
Chromis
Cleaner Wrasse
6 Line Wrasse
Bicolor Foxface
peppermint shrimp
emerald crabs
tuxedo urchins
sailfin tang
blue tang
yellow tang
long nose hawkfish
niger trigger
yellow eye tang
orange shoulder tang

What surprised me was they were also carrying ORA corals specifically a couple of birds nests. Also they had some zoos and acros I think for 21.99 that just said assorted. They were all pretty good sizes.

This was all from memory so I know I forgot some

Does anyoen else notice there Petco's doing this or is this just the one by me?

One in Totowa/Little Falls has a bunch of tanks and a frag tank.

I wish they had knowledgable employees though to care for them.

That one is Brick I have been into and there stock actually looks healthy. Generally the fish are sick and the employees have no idea what they are talking about.

I agree, the one in Toms River is horrible but was very surprised when I went in there and saw the stock.

The one in Somerville is supposed to be pretty good. I think the manager is a SW hobbiest.

I don't know about that, but they do or did have a girl there, named Jen or Jess I think, that seems to actually care about the fish. My mom would get pissed when she went in there to get some fish, and Jen/Jess would ask her what kind of setup the fish were going into, and then tell my mom that she could have the fish she wanted, as they would outgrow the tank. (My mom refuses to take my advice). So there are definitely conscientious employees at some petcos. I've not witnessed bad conditions there for the fish the few times I've been in there either.

i haven't been to a petco in ages....not since it was a late night and I was looking for some battery-powered air pumps. (aqob carries them).

I wish that Petco in Bergen County would actually get some stuff. I have 2 of them fairly close, one in Paramus and one in Ramsey. Both have pretty weak fish sections

But we do have a PetGoods in Paramus, while they do not have the largest supply of SW they have more than Petco, but they do have much more dry goods than Petco Does...

The one in Delran has Saltwater supplies for sale but currently no fish. Large freshwater section though and they all looked healthy. The one near Quakerbridge mall had 0 saltwater supplies and 0 saltwater fish, much smaller freshwater section but they did carry alot of freshwater plants.

I mainly go to the Petco in Somerville. Usually gets a good selection on fish, ask for Pete (Marine Biologist) or Chrissy they will never stear you wrong.

The petco near me on route 1 in Edison has a pretty decent saltwater section. Mostly everything is healthy and their corals usually look good. Sometimes they have great deals on certain corals and other times they are horrendous. The last time I was there they had a healthy BTA for 25 but also had a 10 head mini colony of duncans for 140. So it's a hit or miss with them.
