So, Brick Petco has always been good to us and Andrew, Annie, and the rest of the crew know many of us by name.

Apparently, we had a member, or a member claimee, enter the shop before closing recently.
He claimed he was from the NJRC, was entitled to a discount, and that he knew 'Mark', who was the manager of a store, and who told him he could get a big discount.
As the staff loaded bags, the folks up front were trying to find this Petco manager in their machines, thinking it was a manager from up north.
Then they semi-realized that it was an NJRC 'Mark' he was talking about as this person had thrown about the club name.
Petco folks had no idea who it was as they had never seen him before.

Though the staff was trepidatious, they gave him a discount on the basis he was from the NJRC and knew one of us Marks (not their normal policy).
He bought out their nems and a number of Biota Yellow Tangs.
I'm guessing they'll show up for sale soon here or on R2R.

He then argued for even more of a discount, and when that didn't occur, he passed up on buying all the anthias he had them load up for him.

Seriously? F'n seriously!?
The amount of pissed off is immeasurable at the moment, can feel my blood in my friggin ears.

Wow that's pathetic that someone would go to those extremes to save a few bucks. I'm sure alot of us have gotten great deals from the crew over there at petco I know I have. Sometimes I just stop in to chat and check things out if they're not busy. Way to take advantage of a kind group of individuals like the crew over there. I hope this incident doesn't ruin our relationships with everybody over there. All I can say is karma is real and she always comes back around. We should all do our due diligence and keep an eye on here, r2r, fb marketplace and Craigslist for said biota yellow tangs. Do we know approximately how many tangs they purchased?

I had no idea petco was selling biota yellow tangs. Lol
I know how nice the petco in brick is and I know a lot of people like buying there. But as a company no one should be buying fish or live stock from petco. The way they take care of fish and coral is horrible.
You risk getting your tank infested with poor/sick fish and corals.
If we all don’t buy they will stop selling.

Amado, I agree. However, Brick store is well maintained by Andrew and never a problem with fish or coral. Discounts happen if you are frequent customer and they get to know you.

What this ass did cut a nerve in all of us. If he/she paid with a cc the store now has him flagged. I doubt if he is an actual paid member- a troll that uses the resources available here without actually contributing. There isn't much any of us can actually do other than to keep our eyes open for the resale. If one of us do find them for sale- the actual seller's name is hidden and unless someone wants to play detective/cop and go and buy one to expose him, it's probably better to let this go as a lesson learned.
Is it time to issue membership cards to paid members?
