pistol shrimp

they are noisy and are "safe" in the sense they won't eat your reef. If a small fish or invert is dumb enough to "walk" into the pistol - it may stun / kill it.

The symbiotic relationship between the goby and pistol is typically found in the pacific. The carribbean pistol that typically hitches in aquacultured LR - will not partner with a goby. Hard to say whether that pistol is "reef" safe - for example it may take a snail or hermit.

Of course I would define the hammer-type mantis from the carribean as "reef safe" beyond a penchant for eating crabs, snails and maybe a shrimp or two.

Here's some video of a pistol attacking a cleaner shrimp

I think the producer was pretty dumb to waste a $30 cleaner like that - but whatever films I guess.

That's a really cool video! I've never seen how that works before. Stinks for the cleaner shrimp was certainly entertaining and informative.
