Placing tank on carpet?

I think I know the answer to this, but wanted to get a group consensus.

I think it is getting close to me getting back in the game with my 180. I have a fully finished basement with cheap carpet (the house flippers installed it). Should I just place the tank on top of the carpet or should I cut the carpet out in the dimensions of the stand?

Or try plywood on top of carpet and shim from plywood to stand

i had done this (cut the carpet out in the dimensions of the stand) on a 125 . save carpet . put back when tank is gone ,moved..

I say cut the carpet. Easy to make sure the tank is level no need to worry about water getting on the carpet and causing issues, etc....
