Plane lands on the NJ Turnpike

I was on the Parkway once and saw a plane that had landed on the road that they had moved off to the side. Was wondering how they were going to get it back to the airport.

I saw this this morning on the news. A tow truck ended up pulling it down the turnpike a ways and pulled it into one of the access points to the road crews that take care of the road. A problem that I saw was that once the tow truck pulled it in, the plane would not fit through the gate. I'm assuming they were either going to take down the gate & fence or remove the wings to get it in there. I say, let them fix the problem and let them take off from the turnpike. LOL

Crazy, Can you imagine driving down the turnpike and seeing this happen...LOL

It must be pretty easy to take the wings off though, I was driving down a back road near me and saw a plane parked in somebody's driveway. I actually went around the block to take a double take. My kids went nuts and asked me how they did that. Not too often to see a plane in front of someones house.

Wow thats crazy stuff! It would be a job taking the wings off. You have all the controlls for the flaps, gas lines, and the gas itself is in the wings too

I saw that guy interviewed. It was pretty funny. They wanted him to land at Philly but he didn't have enough altitude to make it the 7 miles. They then proposed a closer airport, but his engines were failing too fast (drop in oil pressure). So they put a traffic reporters helicopter behind him (and probably lower to ease back traffic) while he landed.

TPK officials said that he did better than most motorists, moving nicely off the roadway so that others could get by. Pretty funny, really (thankfully).

A saw a plane land on the NY Thruway about 20 years ago, wild to see the plane fly low over my car and land about 300 feet in front of me. The guy got out and started joking about getting a speeding ticket!
