My Perfecto 180 came pre drilled for 1" bulkheads in the overflows. Problem being that they came in barbed fittings so all you can use is flex pvc or the vinyl tubing that they provided. The return pipe is 3/4" and the bulkhead for the return is made to fit into a the hole that is drilled but has a built in reducer for 3/4". I switched the intake bulkhead to a regular screw in fitting so that I can use a male adapter and rigid pvc, as for the return line I am not sure what to do, I was thinking of getting another 1" bulkhead and just running a 1" from the pump to the fitting and then downsizing to a 3/4" but I thought that might cause some issues for flow. Should I just leave it and use the vinyl tubing that it came with or will my idea of using the 1" bulkhead with a 3/4" reducer work fine?

Actually that's the best thing you can do and what is recommended. In general, you want to carry the largest diameter pipe you can for as long as possible and then step down as close to the tank as you can get. Another thing that is recommended is to always step up at least one pipe size from the pump. What I mean is that if the outflow port of your pump is 3/4", step up to at least 1" pipe as quickly as possible and then carry that as far as you can.
