I never thought much about them, other then that they were a sign of a healthy tank. Lately I've found that they are big with introducing new fish to a tank- especially picky eaters. Some only eat pods- mandarins, my rainford gobys, but the yellow watchman and the clown goby's haven't taken to frozen, flake or pellets, but all are healthy- I've seen all of them pick at the walls and substrate- I know it isn't for the algae
