I'm trying to talk myself into reaquascaping my tank. My tank is a standard 55 gallon, so yeah, it's not going to be easy. I want to do two separate structures instead of my rock wall. I really like the idea of the 5:3 rule.

The color chart is pretty cool too.

I'm also considering going back to a shallow sand bed(currently BB). I like the look of sand and I'm sure my yellow watchman would appreciate it.

Any suggestions on sand? One size? mixture of different sizes?
All suggestions are welcome.

You missed it in the group buy, but tropic Eden reef flakes and mini flakes are great. The best sand I've used hands down.

i actually tried to follow the same rule when i re-scaped my tank. i honestly enjoy the two island look compared to the wall look. it offers better flow and more negative space to place things on.

Awesome read!!! now it has me wanting to re-scape my tank... AGAIN lol. I have 3 islands but been considering going to 2 islands. Thanks for the read.

I re-scaped my tank today. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I don't think I hit the 5:3 ratio; A 55g is tough to work with. Hope you enjoy.
