Posting my tank build (if anyone cares)

Ok, got paint. It matches the basement Because that is what the wife wanted. Have to clean it up a little but almost done with the wood work and can finally get to the equipment side of things. glue for the sump shipped also trying my hand at a becket skimmer Ill post picks.
Hope Im not boring anyone with my slow build. :)

Here is my skimmer Im trying to build Its a "Beckett" type Valve is on the way. Kind of still in the Infant stage here. so far it has cost me pennys so I think ill continue with it. Probably wont work. But hey nothing ever came from not trying.

Just a note someone needs to help RC with picture posting. It is such a pain I can barely figure it out. Click this, downlod to here, stand on your head, spin around three times :p. This site is so much easier to up load to. Just a Note and JMO.

Well I routered the joints while IM waiting for the glue to arrive. Sorry there picks dont pick up the joint well. Im the only one here anyway so this is just for me to keep a log.

Ok I started over with the skimmer didnt feel confident with the materail chossen the first time. so Im using the 5/8 plexi I've got. and then looking for black for the sides.

Hey Bob,

We've got to work on your self-esteem! We care and are here even if we don't post. :D

Are you designing the skimmer yourself or did you get plans somewhere?

everything looks good :)
just a heads up on the skimmer make sure u make some kind of 'U' tube mod going from the beckett up to the main chamber this way u wont have a bunch of micro bubbles going back in ur sump, it's all about contact time the more bubbles in the neck the better.
Becketts RULE !!!!

Ok That was a question I had due to the design I found on line I cant tell where water can go and the flow there the unit. And Im hoping this thing will kick some serious butt. I ordered my beckett valves FROM 4CORAL.COM they sent me three instead of the one I thought I was getting so "boy am I excited" LOL dont know If they come in a pack of three or they messed up either way im ok with it.Got my Weldon 3 so Ill be gluing things together this weekend. heading to Something fishy tonite for some Weldon 16 for the boogered joints ;) Bobb

Ok glue has arrived and Im starting my gluing build this little jig to hold the side square while I glue it together. Glue the baffles in except for the center in the bubble trap have to wait for the back to be glued up so I can set it in place. that #4 weldon goes everywhere when I squeeze the syringe but it cleans up well. Im getting better with it.

Ok picked up some pieces for the skimmer from a sale table at "something fishy" for $2 and used all the parts so it was a good purchase (thanks to my wife for pointing t out. The pieces that I used are the top to the beckett holder still need a bottom for that section to hold the valve from shooting into the skimmer. I also used part as the inner tube in the large section. Not done just all set together to see what it will look like. sorry its sideways.

Im trying my hand at a beckett build. so far so good. Might take a trip to reneern's to see some of her diy stuff. She seems like she knows her stuff.

REMOVABLE BACKGROUND

Ok, I saw this on Someone's tank don't remember who it was but if it was you thank's for a great idea thought I would share it. I thought this was so ingenius. I found In the trash today at work (yes Im a dumpster diver when the need arises) (and I can save loot) Ok it was on top so don't hate me :p. Ok, I found what's called Foam core with a black matte finish it's about a 1/4 inch thick. I brought it home and made a removable background for my tank. I cut the pieces so they fit snug in between the stand and tank trim on top. I don't need any fastner's at all and the best part is there removable so I will be able to see what's going on behind my live rock and coral. Also what's found it's way into my overflow. Here's some pic's If you care.
