hey guys, wanted to share the progress of how my biocube currently looks its alittle messy wasnt prepped for photo day nor do i have a good camera (iphone) hopefully the tang police dont get me haha
Haha! Thank you sir! That’s one of the nicer cubes I’ve seen. Corals look great! If the tang police come knocking, don’t I know nothing. I might have one in my 40b.
Ty sir having a good amount of algae on the rocks thinking maybe too much light not sure dark red algae kind of looks like dinosReally does look nice. Keep up the good work
ahh thanks! yah definitely a learning experience for me daily been playing around with my last reef 10g for about a year before i got into this one which is about 2 months long now, so lets say alittle over a year of doing water changes would always use a bucket mix my salt with an extra wavemaker and just change the water i did last time without really knowing my girlfriend left the window open with the water bucket mixing next to it did the water change with a 5 degree drop in temp thought id get a heart attack haha but everything survived nothing was hurt once the temp went back to normal everything opened up. but just the fact that something can happen anytime without even noticing it.Algae is a challenge for everyone. The fact you are aware of it. And not ignoring it tells me you will be just fine. Tank is still new. There will be battles between algae, good bacteria, bad bacteria, calcium based life forms and a host of pests. All this while putting nutrients in the water on a regular basis and blasting it with huge amounts of light. If anyone gets into this hobby and doesn’t expect a few challenges then they picked the wrong hobby. It’s the battle that makes the hobby both challenging and interesting. And it’s why people praise those with long term success

so now i pretty much made a special bucket for water changes, 5 gallon bucket with my wavemaker attached inside pointing down, 100W heater i got off amazon keeping the temp nice and warm, small digital thermostat maybe one day ill get a autotop off system those are stupid expensive.. also thinking on a auto dosing system but i usually do water changes weekly or biweekly once the system is settled 6-12 months so the nutrients usually are decent
i dont want to take something you might need in the future but if your willing to give it away ill definitely take it cause i definitely cant afford a ATO atm trying to get engaged haha girl would end my soul hahaI may have most of what you need for an auto top off. You may need a bracket or perhaps have to pick up an overfill sensor. But you could have it for free if it helps you out. It’s not new but I believe it all works.
yah i usually keep a jug of water and just pour some in every night when i feed to keep it pretty much full have a protein skimmer tunze 9004 pretty much new but havent had time to even attempt to work it its missing a magnet so im trying to figure out a way to keep it still when removing the cup its really tight in the chambersWhen your air conditioning and heating is on, you will be evaporating a ton more. I manually topped off for a months or 2 in the beginning. I quickly realized the ato is needed. I would take sponge up on that.
thank you sir.No worriers. Tonight I will search my bins and get what I have together. I will PM you. However. I run a really crazy schedule. If I don’t get back to you by tomorrow. PM me. It’s yours just don’t let me forget about it as you can’t imagine what’s on my plate hahaha. Again it’s not new. But it’s free and it worked a month or so ago
man how you tell how much algae you really have built up like the rocks have to be completely green or something? im pretty sure i have a high amount of dinos in the tank my rock has this web like algae its hard to see but its like dark red with the blue lights on if i go white its like brown maybe?Probably a year before you try.
My blue linkia did well for 3 years but once dinos it and I started dosing it shrunk in size. Dosing killed all the algae, even my urchin died.
During the move it just stayed in 1 spot and fish kept flipping it. Have it a small container but no life left.
