Propagation Tank Setup Help.

Hello everyone,

I notice some of my corals have been doing very well and have started to spread and split. I was thinking of setting up a small propagation tank, I was thinking of a 20g long tank. I just have a few questions:

1. How Much lighting should I have? " only looking to do softies and zoanthids." Maybe some SPS if I could avoid the MH and a Chiller. LOW BUDGET GUYS!!!

This fixture is what I had in mind http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230186508410&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching Will this be fine?

2. Will the eggcrate from Lowe's or Home Depot will be fine? I read in some place of cases where there was some kind of phosphate and chemical leaks from them. I can't find the link or how true it is.

3. What other equipment should be a must for a propagation tank my size.

Thanks

Jimmy

Not where I wanted the thred to go but this very good to know, I'm gonna clean the eggcrate good before I place it in the tank. If I used the viniger how long should Lond should I dip it for?

As for the eqipmentthis is what I have in mind:

Tank: 20g Long
Water Movement: Korolia Nano or Koralia 1?
Skimmer: Do I need one if I do biweekly water changes.
Lighthing: 4x24 t5 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEBTOX:IT&item=230186508410&_trksid=p3984.cTODAY.m238.lVI

I was also thinking of adding a aquaclear 110 and do the mod to a refugium or just filled with live rock. Please let me know if this will be a good setup or if you guys have any sugestions please let me know.

Thanks

You just never know where conversations are going to go around here. Thanks for the catalyst. LOL!

Koralia 1 is useless.
Weekly water changes and LPS you might get away without a skimmer. SPS and you'll surely want a skimmer, carbon, PO4 removal, ...
Lighting is adequate.

All good advice from Phyl. I have a small frag tank and have Koralia 1 in it...It doesn't have much flow at all. Go with the 2, especially if you plan on keeping SPS at any point.

I'm not sure how I feel about the small fuge. On one hand, I feel like any extra nutrient export is a good thing, and on the other, I'm not sure a small fuge actually exports much of anything.

(Great tips on the eggcrate BTW!)
