Protein Skimmer Overflow

I have a weird situation the last two days where my protein skimmer overflows with foam and then dump water into the collection cup. It is pure white foam and clean water but it fills the cup within 2 minutes that it is not usable. The unit is a trigger system bursa skimmer and I have never had this problem in the past. I took the unit out this morning and took it apart, cleaned and dried each piece and part but it is still happening.

Any ideas?

Have you added any kind of "supplement" to the tank lately, i.e. Amquel, etc.? Change to Coral Sea salt mix?

Can u choke down flow to the skimmer?

Nothing new, I usually do ReefA/B about once a week and the AquaVitro IONS (Magnesium) about once a week. Otherwise I use the Red Sea Coral Salt Pro, which I have since the beginning. Very annoying and can't figure out if its a thing that will stop after 30 minutes or so. I don't want to pull the plug on the bottom of the cup to drain it as that will just be wasting more and more water.

I have it cranked to the lowest level possible on the system and it isn't any better. Very annoying

Did you add any frags and use two part epoxy? I noticed that the two part epoxy has an affect on my skimmer.

Nope none. I am letting it run at like 4 minute intervals right now. Seems to be getting less and less. I will wait and see what happens.

u put in any new filter bags or pads?

any changes to the water level or ATO? it says on the specs it needs 7~11 inches of water.

I actually let it run for about 10 minutes, drained it, another 20 minutes drained and now it seems fine. Interesting but it seems to be running fine now.
