Ive been looking around at DIY skimmers and was wondering if any of you have any input on the best way to make one. i really need to upgrade to something bigger and better. thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I tried to DIY a skimmer and had no luck, many years ago. Of course mine was all white PVC, don't have the tools to do an acrylic job. I played around with a crappy cheap skimmer, but I couldn't keep my NO3's in check. So, I would recommend a decent skimmer, mine was $250 around 5 years ago and has worked good. Like Hawkeye said, maybe an older model would be a better way to go. You can search around for a used one to save money. I'd just recommend to go as large as you can afford or can fit.
