Puzzled

So since I added my in line uv sterilizer I have noticed that the water level in my back chambers drop, which is odd my float switch keeps it topped off but the water level in the back chambers actually sit about 2 inches lower than it normally does, salinity is still the same according to my refrActometer. I actually had to lower my skimmer in my middle chamber so it would work. Any ideas?

Jeff, a picture or more detailed description of how you have it set up will help. I am assuming from comments that it's an AIO tank, but how are the lines set up leaving the back chamber and going to the UV, and where do they return? Pictures / diagrams / descriptions would help.

Did you get the extra surface skimmer from intank if that is where you got your media basket?

When is the last time you cleaned your Fluval return pump? I ended up replacing mine.

But then wouldn't that raise the water level in the display tank?

No. Think about it. The return pump is pushing less water to the display because it is now going though the UV. The head pressure is low. That means that the DT should have lower water level than before. If that is true maybe, you are at a point where you are not draining fast enough to the sump.

I have a diy basket made of egg crate in chamber one with a sponge filter and chemi pure blue bag..I clean the return pump about once a month when I swap out the media bag..now that you mention it the water level in the display area does look a little higher..on the fluval the top and bottom two inches of the tank are frosted. My water level use to sit just at the bottom edge of the top frosting now it is about .25 inches above it.. so do I need a new return pump to push the water faster?

If so what GPH would be best for 24g tank? And does anyone have one that they want to get rid of?

It might be powered fine. I used stock pump until died on me. I forgot what they say you want your sump turnover to be. Someone more experienced probably knows off the top of their head.
