Quarantine fish the best way

i have simplified my qt for new fish as well. if they are eating, i just do a 90 minute rally bath and start the ttm @ 36 hours as outlined on the HF page. for the tank, i just use an air stone and heater and a bit of prime every 12 hours (no biological filter). if things are going south, i will throw in the hydrogen peroxide as described on HF hybrid ttm page, but i will stick with the 36 hr tank swaps instead of the 72.

but yeah i keep:
coppersafe
prazi
metro
GC
RRR
F2

I personally prefer TTM for ich and velvet. Then into qt for everything else. This is all after having 0 luck with using copper on any fish other than mollies and that's only because they happened to be in the qt

I have had minimum loss when introduce fish one at a time after a short observation period without quarantine. Not saying no loss, but very few. All my fish are immune to ich or other parasites. I have never had an established fish get ich/velvet. I had problem when I was in over my head bought 10 fish and put them all together I lost most of them. Aggression and stress is the biggest trigger of disease outbreaks.

Fish are not immune to anything. Specially not ich or other parasites. Just like how we as humans are not 100% immune to anything. If everything is good in the tank, your fish develop a good immune system. But they can most certainly still get parasites and diseases.

I think everyone should do what works for them.
Me personally I get fish from LFS that are already treating fish. So when I pick it up a new fish I am observing the fish for a few weeks.
Just to see if the fish is ok without any medication.
If I don’t think the fish is doing good I will medicate if needed.
I think not introducing fish directly to your system is
The best practice no matter where you get your fish. I find it easier to get fish to eat different food
When I have them in a qt tank. Once the fish is eating and two weeks have gone by I will add to my system. If I get the fish from a local reefer or a rescue then I will treat and monitor for a longer time.

tsm fish are gold. buy it and drop it immediately. but i have been doing my own qt lately. i do not buy and wait cause if that fish has something thats it. i recently bought fish from a guy, they came with ich, velvet and brooklynella - no extra charge. the fish i started qt immediately lived the ones i didnt are gone. like i said, make it easy. 90 minute bath and ttm every 36 hrs per HF page. things go south, dose with HP 1 hour before transfer and continue with 36 hr ttm
