Question about bio pellet reactor.

I have had it (Two Little Fishies) running for three weeks now. This stuff is at the top of it.

1. What is it?

2. Should I clean it out?

Thank you for your time, reefers!

looks like the bacteria snot i keep hearing about. I haven't got my pellet reactor going yet - missing a connection between my pump and the hose. doh.

Not running any myself, but from what I've heard and read I would agree. Hopefully some one with experience will chime in

i have the same setup running for about 6 months or more have the same snotty looking stuff in the sponge not having any problems at all i would say nothing to worry about

When running bio pellets in a TLF reactor you are suspose to remove the sponges and use the NPX screens. Over time the sponge will get clogged with this "snot" and reduce your flow through the reactor.

With the screens, there should be no reason to clean them unless you don't like the look of the "boogers". ;)

I have never had any issues with the sponge restricting flow but again I clean the sponge about once a month

I just had to take my BRS reactor apart for another reason, but I didn't notice any "snotties". I don't think there is anything to worry about, but I'd knock them off just to ensure full flow through the reactor.
