Question on "welding" broken chocolate Fountain

Hey everyone.

Ok, this place has given me so much insight through the years on reefing, figured I'd give it a shot.

Friend of mine has a chocolate fountain and a piece of plastic that sits in the chocolate and holds up the tower snapped off. Tried Crazy glue, no use, so was thinking weldon, but its easier to get uranium, so was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what else I could use and get locally.

lol Joe where are you located at? Acme plastics in West Paterson has Weld-on or I think you can order it online too

I also don't know where you are, but I do know that the hidden reef had weldon at one time, I haven't checked lately. For the little you probably need, I would ask if anybody in the area has any to spare

Try avennel hobbies ,bring a piece of the plastic and they should have the glue. Therein rt35 opposite Aq Ob

JB Weld is a two part epoxy.

I believe Joe (Jrodrig692) is looking to use Weldon, which will partially melt and fuse the acrylic back together.

Paul, If the Plastic is not acrylic but some other plastic like "HDPE" Only a heat\sonic weld or some specialized glue for that type of molded plastic.. I think we talked about this type of plastics before

Well, I’m not up on the chemistry between polyethylene and acrylonitrile (acrylic), but if I were to guess, I’d say that the Weldon would not work on the polyethylene ….if that is the plastic that we are talking about. Polyethylene is pretty “tight” plastic, and as you have pointed out, requires sonic welding.

I was looking for a Dow product that you could use for them plastics (HDPE,LDPE) but came across this

That looked like the perfect solution... until the last few seconds of the vid where they said the product hasn't been tested to be safe when coming in contact with food. I don't think potentially poisoning the chocolate is Joe's goal. :nervous

True.. But Weld-on isn't FDA approved either.. PDF of chemicals in acrylic adhesives including weld-on that are and not FDA approved
