questions: lighting, dosing, etc.

first, i just bought a MH aquatic 150w lamp fixture for my 29gal nano.

a) how long do most people run their MHs?
secondary a) this will be my primary light source. what should i supplement the rest of the hours of light period with?
third degree a) i bought a RKL is this able to be used as a timer with the MH stock ballast? i know someone mentioned for ACjr it requires using the HD outlets? is this a case for RKL?

b) i am using tropic marine PRo reef salt. i previously used IO and during my break i've been reading more and more. definitely require a suitable test kit to provide my appropriate answer but what is everyone dosing their tanks with? 2 part - reefcomplete etc.
i just read using a buffer is a bad idea for reef tanks. wish i knew that a few months ago with my old tank. phUP? phDown? or coming from what i read....dose ALK to up PH?

I can't help with your lighting questions, i run t5 but i use tropic marin pro. i drip kalk all day and i supplement with b ionic two part. you have to test your levels and adjust accordingly. i believe kent manufactures a two part for nano tanks

I run my 150 W MH on my 60 G for about 6 hours a day, and supplement with T5's for a total of 11 hours light cycle.

I would be concerned about the heat using a 150 W MH on a 29 G, but I am sure others with a similar set up can give better advice on that.
