Quieting Overflow

What have you guys done to quiet your overflows? My tank is not drilled so I have a HOB overflow which is constantly making a loud flushing noise. To make matters worse my tank is about 5ft away from my bed. I tried to put a tube in it and it seemed to help a little bit but for some reason water came out of it and was causing a puddle while I was at work/school.

If I recall correctly, some people tried to slow down the flow by having some regulator on water exit.
Not sure what else you can do with HOB.
Also, for HOB strongly recommend a way to maintain a syphon (like a airlifter pump).

Back when we had an HOB, we had the same problem. Noisy!

Built a durso style shorten stand-pipe that simply friction fitted into the bottom of the overflow…….a simple and inexpensive solution.

I’ll go down into the basement, and if I find it, I’ll post a picture.

Makes you wanna pee doesn't it?

Lmao! I remember that noise! I had so many different length tunes and would find just the right spot. Then a month later the noise would come back. Then back to messing with different tunes. Never knew about the muffler thing.. Wish I did back then!
