Qwik Check Festival of Ballooning, Anyone?

It was a good time! I was not there that early though!

We hit the evening launch and it was a tough go of things with the wind that blew all day (which made for a beautiful day). The balloons that finally went up were just the rounds. Looks like you were on the balloon side of the launch, Jim. Great photos. Mine are still in the cam.

Now that I've had a little sleep, I can report that a half dozen balloons never were released, including the fantastic Energizer Bunny, and that Darth Vader never made it out of the airport! An amazing Noah's Ark balloon did the full race, though. And a good time was had by all.

Balloons are one of photography's greatest cheap shots, along with clowns, flowers, and neon signs. Easy to take colorful pictures, eepecially in morning and evening light.

The evening light there is horrible. It is all backlighting because the sun sets directly behind the balloon field. Much better THERE in the AM.
