I chased PH once and it was a mess.
I would suggest taking a step back and figuring out what may be off, don't add anything to the tank, check parameters that can cause PH drop first then devise a strategy for correcting the situation safely.
Don't add PH buffer.
Assuming your parameters are fine and your pets are fine then leave it alone.
You can also see if you can vent your skimmer with fresh outdoor air by running plastic tubing to a window as a test. I am currently doing so and the PH went to 8.3 day time, 8.2 night time. My PH was 7.8 night time and max 8.0 day time. I am only on my second day of this trial, if PH remains at 8.3 then I will devise a permanent solution to this fresh air thing.
