Re-Birth of the 150 DSPS Mixed Reef

So.. As some of you knew I experienced a tank crash that to this day I'm not sure about what caused it. In either case I lost of LOT of really nice SPS but I was able to save a few. I took the loss in stride and started back up my tank after saving most of the pieces in my Frag tank. Its been almost 2 months and in that time I was able to get a great deal on a set of AI-SOLS and then sold my SFLIGOI XR6II fixture shortly there-after. At the time I was confident that my SOLS were the right choice and I have been using them since. This is both the issue I'm having and the source of my Frustrations.....

So I have 4 Types of Hammers


Yellow/Gold with White/Tan Stalks
Purple Stalks with Green Tips
White Stalks with Green Tips
Green Stalks with Purple/Blue Tips (This is the one in question)

Taken under ISO 200 w/ Flourescent -2 on a Nikon D40 & Dolica Proline Tripod.

I'm still learning and the only post processing was white balance and gamma/exposure.

Adventure!

So as many of you know I have decided to supplement my AISOL's with some T5's. I have to say that to date this is probably the best decision I ever made.

After adding the T5's (ATI Purple Plus X2) I noticed that it completely eliminated all of the dark spots and made the tank so much brighter! I was simply amazed at the change. My wife came in and thought that my LED's had malfunctioned and stayed on permanently. The other thing I noticed was that even though it Raised PAR that it helped bounce and disperse a LOT of light to cut down the beaming effect. I only used 2 Bulbs but that's all I really needed.

*Note: ATI Purple + and KZ Fiji Purple BOTH had the same effect. Looked Identical to the eye and I ran each pair for a day and corals responded the exact same way.

So after my little T5 Change I went to visit the parents with my very pregnant wife. I of course ended up playing on my IPAD and browsing the forums while they just talked on and on about babies. I ended up contacting a guy that was less than 10 miles across the border in BRISTOL PA with an Amazing tank. After leaving the parents I couldn't help but go on an adventure !!

AND a Stop at Hidden Reef!


Hidden Reef is A HUGE STORE... Almost every dry good you could possibly hope for is there. Many stores can take a few notes about their Fish Holding Facility. Its a Dark room and the only lights are coming from the tanks which are Identical (Sorry didn't get pics of the fish. too busy browsing the live stock)

My real reasoning for going to the hidden reef was to find ATI Blue + bulbs to replace the purple + and Kz Fiji's at home. I thought that they made the tank too red.. But this was probably my eyes. The verdict is STILL out. Unfortunately for me.. No such luck... they don't carry ATI bulbs.. WTF... (Minus 5 Points..)
