Recharge A/C

Do people put freon/recharge air conditioners? I remember seeing it done once, and would like to do so for my bedroom a/c. Everyone I come across seems to only do central air or commercial locations.

I'm wondering if I should just buy another air conditioner

I've never had to recharge a window unit. If it stopped blowing cold it was usually filter related... You would think there has to be a way recharge them though!

They sell a tap to tap onto the copper line. I don't know if you'll be able to get the freon tho. I've done quite a few.

hmmm - according to this article you need to be certified by the epa to replenish freon...

Seems like a lotta hassle for an A/C - but it sure is hot these days.

I'm certified but never bought a recovery unit. If the unit leaked freon, the leak would have to be found first and fixed. The reason no one will fix it is because it only cost a few more bucks for a new one.

I just got my house unit recharged .. thanks to hidden reef.. I got the number from them.. weird how things work out.. when I get home from work.. I will leave his number..

Thanks. My unit isn't leaking freon. It was inherited when I bought the place. Is your house unit just a regular a/c or is it central air?
