If you think it's cyano test for high nitrates, I use a product called chemi clean which annihilates cyano within a few days. Try it and if it doesn't rid your tank of the problem the. It is probably Dino.
if its Dino it will require a multistage attack, the link posted on the first page has good info on that.

IMO do a coral dip on any new frags from now on.

seems like most think its dinos. it does have a few bubbles if it grows on the coral and back panel, but when it grows on the bottom glass it doesnt have bubbles. i started using waste away today so hopefully after a few weeks ill be able to notice some difference. im thinking about doing a big water change this week instead of the regular 5g. maybe 20g or so but im not sure yet. it would probably counteractive to take all the water out that has the waste away in it but i still think it might be more beneficial for tank in general.
oh and i forget to add that my algae blenny is eating it. if its dinos he will be poisoned right?

not sure if anyone is interested but just to update the thread, as I thought, that type of algae, whatever it was, has receded and i dont think i can find any of it anymore. now i'm not sure if it was the waste away product that did the majority of the work or if my tank just needed the proper husbandry that it wasn't given while i was on vacation. anyways im pretty happy with the tank, its finally starting to look like a reef. ill update my tale of the tank soon if anyone is interested.

CASE CLOSED- algae is gone

Good to hear, I just put in my second dose tuesday. The first was half strength and the second a little below full. We will see how things go. I am also stepping up water changes and what not. Glad to hear it at least did not hurt.

i did pretty much the same thing. first dose on 9/6 for about 20g. then another dose on 9/13 for about 30g. i think ill put a 40g dose in today and watch for an o2 drop. and thats pretty much it for that little bottle, one more dose week and its gone. im not sure if ill buy more, maybe ill see if it helps your tank a lot and then make a decision on whether i should make this a regular thing

Glad to hear that you were able to get it in check. My tank is going on 6 weeks and have been going throught the usual algae blooms. The diatoms showed up first and have pretty much faded. Im seeing some cyano and brown algae but that seems to have leveled out. About a week or so ago I dinos started making an appearance. After dealing with them last year I immediately started dosing peroxide. Although I have eliminated them yet there is less of it. Im keeping a closr eye on it and will get more aggressive if I need to. Was the waste away easy to find?

Not sure where you are located but trop in ocean carries most of dr tims stuff. I prefer to order online though as ots cheaper. Don't forget Amazon. You can get good deals on a lot of stuff like that and most the time shipping is free.
