Reef putty has made my skimmer go crazy

On Monday I used about a third of a stick of reef putty to secure some of my new frags. Since than my skimmer has gone crazy. I raised it up an inch or two and it has helped slightly. It is now no longer overflowing but it’s still not skimming properly. Any other advice in what I can do to get it back to normal?

Always does... another method would be to use thermoplastic beads you can get off amazon.

I will change the carbon today. I’m not sure why I didn’t think of that myself. I have my weekly water change scheduled for Monday. Hopefully I don’t have to wait that long and it will correct itself by than with some new carbon

I'm going through the same thing now as well. Only a 20g so any amount throws it off for days

So last night I changed my filter sock and carbon and it has definently helped. My skimmer is slowly coming back to normal. Is skimming like it should but with the Valve all the way closed. Usually I leave the valve about halfway open.
