What do y'all think ?

Open spot would be for a refugium, only thoughts would be that chaeto would fall over into return chamber.

Maybe no fuge to start and add algae reactor?

Bucket fuge if you want to do chaeto. I'd either do a diy algae scrubber or just light it. Throw a bunch of sponge filter and roughed up acrylic sheets and dividers for algae to grow on and just suck out that or keep something in there that eats it or both. I always do better growing algae for whatever reason

Ill probably bite the bullet on an algae reactor eventually

This was the direction I went with the sump, it's live now. Worked well. Abundant space in same chamber as roller mat, need to figure out what will live there in the near future until an algae reactor is in the cards

I like it, and the in sump algae area.. I have a chaeto reactor but it doesn't grow in there nearly as fast as it does in my sump section. For an algae reactor, I've had the most luck in regards to growth speed and volume with the scrubber type algae reactors.
