I'm a RK guy.
I started with a RKL 5 years ago to use as a timer and heater controller, then added another power strip and light module.
When I upgraded tanks I upgraded to the elite and added another power bar and ph/orp probes. I can go on and on but as if today I have the archon controlling 6 power bars on 3 tanks, lots and lots of float and horizontal float switches, many lights, dosing pumps for ATO and AWC, and the oscillating fan of the room temp gets high!

I did try apex once when I bought a used setup but I was never really impressed as it was the same thing for the most part and the addons where so much more expensive even used ones.

It definitely is. Hard part is trying to figure out how to mount all of it.

Easy enough to mount, on one tank I have a piece of 1/2" ply with all the modules attached to it inside my stand. On another tank I used sticky Velcro to mount the modules inside the top section of the stand.

Plus it's easy enough to make your own bus cables.

I will be mounting on 1/4" ply with velcro and screws. Hard part is just making it look nice with some room to add on and also fit my 3 jebao controls and possibly there 3 transformers and my two led ballasts.

I went and bought a whole saw blade for my drill, made it super clean being able to pass the cables through the board.

Did the same thing. Stuck on what to put where

What I did was cut out a piece of cardboard box the size of the spot where I wanted to mount everything and used it as a mock up.

Placed the unplugged units on the box and outlined them with a pencil once I had all the units traced and placed properly I then looked for the ideal location to cut the pass throughs.

Here are some quick pics

Believe it or not that's a picture after I rearranged and cleaned it up, the blue wire is now tucked out of sight lol.

Word of advice, you don't have to put all the modules together in one place.

I have the primary section with my power bars, dosing pumps, water bug leak detector, and Archon.
Then I have a Sl1/2 spaced out and directly below the tank so I could run probe and switch wires straight down.
