Return pump for 90G RR

What is a good return pump for 90G? Pump will be in sump under the tankstand. Total headpressure of maybe 4' Sump is 30G Thanks

Assuming 1 overflow, you should plan on it handling only 600gph. We had a similar situation with out 65g tank and used a Mag 9 with a SQWD. The SQWD reduced the flow just enough that the overflow was close to maxed out and we didn't have to divert any flow. If you don't want to go the SQWD route, I'd suggest a Mag 7. That would probably give you enough flow, without exceeding the limits of your overflow.

Curious on this - a mag 7 -

a) I think the screws they use for those devices aren't great - I've seen a pair of mine rust.

b) Wouldn't a mag 7 (pushing at that speed) create a lot of "waterfall" / noise?

To me I guess I'd rather have the flow in the tank and use a smaller return.

But I think this may be my own personal preference rather than anything scientific...

Before I moved my sump to the basement, a MAG 7 work perfectly on my 90RR. You will end up with around 450 going back to the tank. Add some extra flow with a powerhead (Koralia 3) and your all set.

Once I moved it to the basement and had to go 15 ft back, I went with a MAK4 and a manifold setup (thanks John and Phyl).

I have a mag 12 on my 90g RR. I have it spilt at the return. I guess I will go against the grain and say that I wish I had a little more flow ::)
