Return Pump Question

What would you suggest my turnover rate should be in a 30G cube with a 10G sump? My return pump is getting noisy, and it was cheap 2 years ago ($40).

I'm also of the opinion that more flow "may" benefit the tank, hopefully reduce cyano?

Thoughts?

Through the sump I would figure on right around 4-5x volume. Less is more in my opinion. Give the water more chance to clean up so to speak.

Flow in the DT is another matter. There I believe you want as much as you can handle coral wise.

I didn't know overflows had ratings, but it does make sense. I'll see if it's listed anywhere.

It might not be listed anywhere. If it's a "conventional" big black wad of plastic in the corner, or centered somewhere, and has a "conventional" 1 inch durso drain pipe therein, it is rated at 600 gph. If you have two of these massive overflows, just double it, and you have a 1200 gph overflow.

If your smart :p, and have a petite Glass-Holes overflow from a dope company, a single 1 1/2 inch drain is 700 gph, while the two 1 1/2 inch overflow is rated at 1500 gph.
