My Dad died last Sunday, age 94. It was not unexpected, they had given us a window of a week to a month. He lasted 13 days from that point. It's a hell of a shock even if you're ready, and there is a lot of stuff that needs to be done in these situations. If you want to read about him, the obit I wrote is here:
