I have a liquigen 75 GPD rodi unit. I just bought and installed all new replacement filters from liquigen for the whole unit. After letting the system flush itself out for a few hours I tested the water with my TDS pen and it was reading zero. So I made 20 gallons of water for a water change and I tested the water once again and it was reading 34. I’m not sure why this is? It was reading zero for a short time and now it’s not. I was wondering... Is there something that I could add to this unit or should I buy a whole new unit? Anyone else have problems like this before?

Mark, I have cleaned out all of my containers. My brute trash can that I use to mix the salt in was dirty before but not now. I rinsed it out and wiped it down. There was a tan film all over it before I cleaned it out. I also did the same with the five gallon jugs that I store the salt water in as well.
You shouldn’t use a tds pen. They are not very accurate. If possible purchase a in line TDS meter.

Yes I see it now, the membrane blended in with the back wall so I missed it at 1st glance.
Liqugen is a solid unit IMO so I wouldn't replace it...just need to troubleshoot it. (i have a 7 stage LG unit myself)
Do you know the micron size of the cartridges?
Do you know what the PSI is going into the unit? LG has it listed from 50-100 for normal operation....do you think you're getting that going into the membrane?
Did it come pre-assembled?

I don’t know the micron size of the cartridges and that is not listed on the website and I dont know the psi going into the unit. I only turn on the cold water full blast and let the system run it’s course. The water is going through all of the filters and membranes and I’ve double checked that it’s hooked up correctly. I think I may return my TDS pen back to amazon and get a TDS meter instead. I’m hoping that I’m getting inaccurate readings from the pen
I think it would be really helpful to get a PSI gauge hooked inline. They are super helpful with RODI units. I almost consider it essential. By knowing your psi. You will know a lot about what’s going on. For instance my psi into my house was under 50. That’s not enough for the membrane to be efficient so I purchased a pressure pump and boosted it up to 80 (I could easily take to 100 but I didn’t want to put to much stress on the lock line fittings) now I make more water faster and have less waste. Also if I see the pressure overtime going down. To like 60. I know something is getting clogged up. In my case. My town water sucks and it is usually the first stage fabric membrane I switch it out and bang its back up to 80. It’s just a great visual for what’s going on. And they arnt expensive.
