Rod's Food

last night i bought Rod's Food, fish only blend for my two clowns. the first question i have, since i have never used it before, is this food god for a complete nutrition. my clowns ate like i have never seen before, they attacked it are were going crazy for it. i just want to make sure it is healthy

question 2. is this stuff supposed to smell so bad. my goodness. the reason i ask about the smell, OG2 is about 1 hour from my house, and it slightly defrosted on my way home. not completely melted, but definitely not fully frozen. i just want to make sure it is ok

last question. i have some ricordeas in my tank now. should i get the original blend which has food for corals too or do i not have to feed the ricordeas

Its one of the best all around foods you can use.

Yes it smells bad, it has become slightly defrosted with me and no problems.

Ricordeas dont have to be fed to survive, if u target feed them they will grow bigger and spread faster.

perfect. thank you so much

Awesome stuff! Got a bunch at MACNA. Fish AND corals go crazy for it. Wanna see em really go nuts? Pick up the fish eggs next time and mix the two together when you feed.

Not that I know of. I have Ocean Aquarium in Egg Harbor convinced to bring it in. Working on Dominick at Aquarium Center in Clementon.

I'm not a fan. I'm convinced the red slime in my tank is a result of using Rods. I threw the rest out.

can you expand on your reasoning why it would cause red slime?

i'm sure if it was a cause there would be a good number of reports for rods food causing it. i haven't seen one. it's just logical to remove all known problems to figure out the issue. and if 1 out of so many of us use rod's food with no red slime. i would either think a special case (not doubting you) or something else caused the red slime.

Strange. I haven't seen that. But then again, I only feed Rod's like once a week; maybe twice.

Personally, I like it because I can break off just the amount I need and feed immediately. I just hold the frozen chunk in the water and the fish chow down as defrosted pieces float away.

Old rule of thump, when anybody starts to do some thing new or uses a different product and seems to see something take place in a reef tank, the first thing they do is blame the product, which usually is not the case most of the time. I doubt it is Rod's food, maybe it is you just added to much :)

I didn't experience that either. As a matter of fact, I was in the midst of nasty algae/cyano outbreak when I started using Rod's food (MACNA Weekend). And that's about when I changed the flow on my tanks and bought new salt for stepped up water changes, and now the algae/cyano is all but gone.

Guess I could say Rod's cured my algae outbreak? ;D
