Sailfin Tang with broken scalpel?

I was just looking at my Sailfin tang and one of her scalpels is bent. Do these repair themselves?

if it is a wound then yes it should repair itself. I've heard of people clipping the Caudel Fin with nail clippers to remove the sharp edge and withing a week or two it was back

Is the scalpel just a calcium buildup like a fingernail?
