Forgot to mention, its located in 07660 and will be there until my apartment sells. Moving into a house and reef keeping is unfortunately not in the cards. I would like to find it a new home who will care for the fish and stuff in it. Thanks!

not sure i understand the post mike - are you saying you are looking for a school/organization to donate to or that this set up is at a school already?

LOL. Guys we do have a tank that is supported by NJRC located at Adventure Aquarium and partnered with the NJ Academy for Aquatic Science. That would be the logical destination in my head if we part it - but it would also require some signficant coordination and also even a question to NJAAS as to whether they would want it.

Again - mike - not sure if you are posting this looking for a place to donate to - or sharing that you found a place and are telling us the news.

What tank was that?! I was just at AA last weekend!

I wish the club would advertise it more - but the first official announcement was made here:
http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs033/1102561682406/archive/1103588385215.html

It's located downstairs in NJAAS for their science program. It's not there for adventure aquarium attendees. We had a NJRC meeting once at the NJAAS meeting rooms.

It would be awesome if we met there again. One of the directors at NJAAS also has 3 of my baby clownfish (at least they were babies back in 2010). I had hoped they would be displayed at Adventure Aquarium but they reside in a small tank in a lab downstairs.

Problem with a school is that what happens to the tank during the summer...

I agree with this statement. My daughter and her friend found turtles years ago and kept them in the science room. During the summer they had special permission to enter the school twice a week and care for them. But when they graduated 8th grade no one was around to care for them. So we ended up with them.

Plus the maintenance costs, they are cutting programs and teachers state wide as it is. I think it would be a tough sell to get a school to take it and maintain it at the level it needs to be kept, especially on a thinner than a shoe string budget.

See even more reason for a good cause of Donation to Brandon or we can call it donation to Aidan my 1 year old nephew.

:)

sorry I haven't been on top of this thread as much as I should have.

The tank has not yet found a new home. I understand donating to a school situation maybe tough. What is the NJAAS about? It's deserving of a good home to be cared for. The tank itself has been reliable for nearly 3 years. Worst case, I donate the live stock to anyone who wants it and I'll just kill the rocks and tank and have movers bring it with us to 07052.

The problem with donating a used tank is the liability involved with it. When we decided to partner with NJAAS we had access to a few used tanks but after talking to our legal consul (thank you Nikki) the BOD decided to buy new to avoid any future problems.
