Seahorses

why did you decide to use aquarium gravel?
Well my first idea was going all fake stuff because I’m not doing a reef tank I’m making a seahorse condominium and don’t know enough about reef tanks or care of them. But am rethinking my decision because of all beautiful reef tank I’ve seen on website. So nothing in stone. What really turned me is that I can get all live rock I want in many shapes n sizes

And by having sand, you can have all the sand sifting snails cleaning up leftover food

Well I officially have a up n running 55gal tank. I’m so stoked and can’t wait to add seahorses in a week or so. I can’t thank everyone enough for the help and advice and explaneing things to me I don’t think I could of done it alone. Heck I still don’t know what my refugium does except remove the crap. Here r some pics. The center piece is a cast molding I had made of myself as a gift for wife

You should still cycle before putting the ponies in. They are sensitive to ammonia and nitrate spikes.
That water you got is great but it sat without aeration so stuff would have died off.

Ughh... can find 3 babies but lost an adult this morning. This all started when I couldn't get rid of those hydroids and put them in QT then nuked the filter rocks in hob. Since the last death, I was thinking that the rocks may be holding too much fen for the tank. So I disconnected that filter, leaving the sponge filter going until I could get to it (the sponge filter was my first filtration for the qt and this tank so didn't see a problem with it). This morning Ammonia was at .25. Not bad but if they still had to deal with the fen, may have been too much for her.

I threw out those rocks and water from the hob and put new from 20 gallon in, did partial water change and we will see.

I did aeration and filtration on all I have 2 aerators n 2 filter pumps will cartridges and play switch around for 2 3 days ( on this one) lm having water tested tonight. But I have been using ocean water on all my water needs for 2 yrs on my 2 20gal tanks. So my ponies r used to it. I swear they always look happier after a water change. It take to long to explain how I used to do changes but I will get it posted soon. Enough of that how r ur babies I have one getting ready to burst a few little ones already in tank (20gal) one left him in there to finish dot want that mess in new tank. I was amazed by how big ur babies look compared to the ones mine have
