Adjustments have been made and we are off to sealing the top & bottom. Fits like a glove.

Another little update:

The stand top level and bottom level received a water based poly. WATERPROOF

Today started plumbing and I still feel high from the primer haha.

So I would love some critique on my plumbing... Will be a Herbie overflow with a dual return over the top of the tank. I will be adding two more 45's into the tank to divert the flow. Looking to gain a LOT of flow from this system as opposed to using powerheads. Is this safe to do?

Also how safe is using matte black enamel spray paint on pvc that will be submerged under water?

Hello
I have the same frag tank.
Using a large return to be the only flow in the tank is not a good way to do it.
It’s always a good idea to buy the smallest return pump that will work in your tank.
The flow inside the tank is better done with power heads. This works a lot better
Because if your return dies you will still have circulation in your tank.

The power heads now a days can be controlled and offer different flow patterns. This is great for coral/frag growth. The random flow created by a pump can’t be matched by using a direct flow return pump.

It’s always a better idea to buy a small Jebao return pump for cheap. The return pumps they sell are also controllable.

This frag tank will help you with your main tank. You will focus on the frag tank and keep your hands off the main tank lol .

The build looks great!!

I am assuming you are planning to place sand on top of grid. Why do you want the grid? Is it to protect the glass bottom? if yes, I have had a bare bottom tank for over 5 years. Rocks have fallen. Never felt like it would have broken the bottom panel.

It's bare bottom frag tank.

Note that the egg crate is elevated ~ 3/4" using 1" PVC pipe

You may want to lift the egg crate a little more.
That way you can have a lot of flow under the frags. You will also add fish putting it a little higher will allow tangs/wrasses a place to hide.

Ran water through the return line! No leaks... as of now. Made the line going into the pump a little short so it's not sitting right. Tomorrow I will get a coupling cut the two to add a little more height. I will paint the remaining black and we will be filled with vinegar and water to run / clean the system

Updates!

We are cooking with water & vinegar. I added six gallons of white vinegar to sterilize the previous tank and remove any debris. I will let this run until the end of the weekend. Saltwater will begin next week. The return pump vibrates a good deal. I originally was going to add ribbed vinyl but I read it's to rigid to begin. Some have suggested putting pump on a sponge bed of some sort.

The plumbing!

Do you guys think I should add some soft tubing to the bottom of the return to reduce some noise / vibration. It's not not loud
