Seeding dead sand in new reef tank

I'm setting up 120g to move from 55g.
Saltwater is in and I've added Fiji Pink dead sand.
I also have live rock that been sitting in bin with saltwater for about a year.
That rock may be live but does not exhibit much signs of life.
How do I better seed the tank ?
1) Add just live rock and check the ammonia
2) Add some water and sand (and may be rock) from existing tank -
The issue with that is my existing tank is infested with planaria.
I have melanarus wrasse, which picks on planaria sometimes, but it prefers regular fish food.
Should I try to avoid planaria in new tank ? Or is it beneficial?
I wanted to dip all inhabitants and do not reuse old sand and old live rock.

3) Buy live sand and seed with that.

does it warranty that live sand from store (bag) is free of bad stuff? if it good, then i would say get live sand bag from store to seed

otherwise, try as some member with their tank sand to seed your sand. all you need is a cup or 2 cup of sand to seed your tank.

to me, Pest free is a very subjective. some people like to be crystal clear and some people just want pest and it is fine with the tank. you are welcome to get my sand but I just want to let you know that I don't know what is in my tank.
I knew that I don't have flatworm nor redbug. however, i do have those blood worms. not too much but I knew I had them :)

did you use the water from your 55? that would do it. if not its pretty much like starting over. could add some stability but nothing like time to grow the best bacteria.

I did not use anything from existing tank.
I thought, when I transfer lifestock I will dip them.
As far as old sand and rock, I planned to put it in bin with water and starve them with no light.

I was told that planaria is harmless, but I do not like when they cover the sand.
Or should I get second melanarus wrasse (they will probably fight) to eat planaria ?

the bacteria is on hard surfaces and not in the water.

and those "blood worms" are spaghetti worms which are good for your clean up crew unless you have too many.

i knew that you are in the hobby probably longer than me and knew more than me but I would recommend that setup the tank like fresh setup and let it cycle. 3 months isn't that long and within that 3 months, you have time to prove out your system. fix, add, twist anything that need to the setup.

To seed live sand, get live sand or rock from a trusted close reefer and add it to your tank. You can buy the live sand and that will work out fine as well, just cheaper if you have something closer. You can also do a search for garf's grunge, also good stuff to help establish a tank with.

I've used garf grunge (got it free with order), it looked strange (like some gravel with some dust), but I guess it works.
To me it probably would be easier and cheaper to buy a bag of live sand of same kind.

SHLUZER. Look at posts for levamisole. I had an encounter with planaria 3 years ago and for 20 bucks of powder I made it dissapear forever. Then you can reuse everything on your old tank safely.

The stuff works great. Much cheaper than Flatworm eXit. Hard to find.
