Thanks so much to Andy & his wife for hosting the NJRC's September meeting. The meeting was a great success. Lots of great food, great people and plenty of raffle items to be had.
RichT did a demo of a Vortec pump on Andy's tank. It was fun seeing it in motion (and we fed it some bubbles to get an idea of the flow from it). Great little gizmo. Thanks Rich!
We discussed lots of club business at this meeting as we prepare for the coming months.
The holiday party, to be held on December 2 at the Clark VFW was one of our topics. The two Grand Raffle prizes are going to be a Tunze 6100 + Multi Controller and a MRC MR-2R protein skimmer. Many other prizes are in the works for this year and we'll let you know as we line them up! The tickets for the party, as well as the two raffle items, will be sold in advance, the same as last year. The hall this year will hold 180 people and we're working on a guest speaker for the event. As soon as we have confirmation we'll post the remaining details.
We also discussed the Premium Aquatics Group buy now under way.
We announced the NJRC Logo Contest. There will be 3 prize winners for the top three ideas submitted. Look for details in an upcoming post in the Announcement Forum.
We currently don't have a host for our November meeting. It was suggested that we consider hosting a meeting at In Living Color in Mid-November so we will look into that possibility. ILC is looking forward to showcasing some of the recent improvements made to their store.
We announced the resignation of our Director At Large for the South. Ruden (Saltwater Llama) was a tremendous asset to the board and we are sorry to see him go. As happens to many of us at one time or another, life is in the way of his enjoying the hobby. We hope to see Bob run again in the future as time allows. Look for details in an upcoming post in the Member's General forum if you're interested in participating on the Board.
We discussed the changes to the website and how they will impact the membership. One of the changes is the creation of the Committee forums where we'll be able to get more member participation in some of the areas needed to help grow the club. We will post a list of those committees again for those interested in taking a more active role in the direction of the club. Those who already volunteered for committees should have access to the new forums shortly.
In addition to club raffle items we got donations from Panmanmatt (Orange Ric), RichT (Purple Cap), and Steve68 (Pavona). Thank you guys for your donations. They were all excellent additions to the raffles.
It was great to see you all again and I look forward to seeing you at the October meeting (North). It is through your participation, insight and ideas that we are able expand the club and do more.
