Simple tool to remove the Volute on your Sicce pump

Here is a tool I made to make it Super easy to remove and put back on the Volute from the Sicce PSK-2500 pump. I got the Idea from Jon Warner at Warner Marine Research.
Very easy to make out of 1.5" PVC T fitting.
I have done it two ways One just for the pump and the other is if you have a Venturi you need to clear.

#1 1.5" T and Volute

#2 Put the T on top of the Volute.

#3 Mark the T with a marker with the lines in the Volute. There will be three.

#4 Now cut the T at the marked lines about .5"

#5 You are done if you do not have a Venturi on it for protein skimmer.

#6 If you have a Venturi you will have to make a long hole so you can put it on with the Venturi. Just make sure your Venturi will be in the right spot.

Wahhoo!!! ;D ;D Sorry it took me a while to find this ...with so many good posts in the WK 1 AFS(after for sale) threads. It is a great idea...I had a bugger of a time taking mine off and hated the way I did it...sure I would have broken it the next time around.

I don't own one of these pumps and will probably never need this tool... put I think it's a great idea!

I'm going to have to make one. I've been using the handles on a pair of water pump pliers. Do you have a problem restarting your pump when you turn it off?

Bob I have no restart problems at all. I am Using Warner Marine Red Pinwheel. I am getting 40 to 45 SFCH on my air meeter.

very nice and simple dyi. i dont have a sicce pump anymore but since i upgraded to a sro-xp2000, i always used plyers and grinded up my volute although it didnt effect performance but looked ugly. i have notice that msx uses a thicker o-ring which makes removing voulte difficult. my second sicce pump i order volute came off very easy because of thin o-ring. nice dyi though

Well since this thread was revived...with a good post...I want to say ..
I DID IT!!!
Makes life pretty easy though I think I need one size larger T.
Used the dremmal took about 3 minutes.
