Avoid the Coralife like the plague. Had one, broke, customer service was excellent, replacement one broke.

I'm using a reef octopus classic 110 (internal) for a 65g, works fantastic.

Edit: just saw you solved the problem, grats :)

I apologize if I've already said this....my senility has gotten worse.....Put 2 or 3 #10 nylon washers on the pump shaft on the impeller end. This is what fixed my Atman piece-o-crap pump. With the washers, has been running maybe two years or more. You can find them at HD in the drawers in the hardware department.
