I was asked this question:
"Hey, the skimmer has been producing a ton of water waste. Do you have any idea what could be the problem?"
Wanted to get more educated opinions.
Here is my answer:
Hi,
with that particular skimmer you can adjust it to lower the output by raising the transparent collecting container. Rubber ring around that container is supposed to keep it in raised position, this way only top of the foam will be collected. So I would try that first before something else.
Another possible reason - pump is too powerful (to remedy can try to dial back/choke the pump), though I remember you were planning to use MaxiJet1200 and that one is recommended.
Another reason - something in the water, some additive or just after feeding.
In my opinion it's a good thing that skimmer is capable of making lots of foam. One just needs to adjust it (for particular pump and water quality) to get reasonable amount of skimmate. Would you agree?
