Snails and algae

I recently had bought a nice stock of snails ranging from nassirius, banded trochus, turban and Mexican turbo. The algae has cleared up and now I wanna supplement their diet. I have some hikari algae wafers I've been crushing up and adding to tank. What is everyone else using?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. They eat algae and detritus. But if you wanted to you could always put a small piece of seaweed in there.

When you feed regularly pieces will fall to the bottom and the CUC will be fed. If the fish get it before it drops then Just push some pellets into the water and they will fall.

Same here - they eat the leftovers from fish feeding.
I've been using Hikari Extreme Algae, and I really like it because it sinks, has a large concentration of algae, and suitable size for small and large fish - and BTW all my omnivores love it.

Nassarius snails do not eat algae. They do eat fish food and relish the stuff. I've never seen mine bother with fish poop. Something dies? They will be all over it. If you don't drop pellets for the nassarius - they will die. The other snails mentioned do eat algae and shouldn't need to be fed separately unless you overstocked - then they will die and be food for the nassarius.

Adding nutrients to support your cuc is confusing concept for me. My nassarius do wipe the glass once in a while, but not as often as i do and it may just be for exercise. They are great for hoovering up uneaten food very immediately which is a good thing unless you've got some finicky mudders that need to get to it first.

Maybe you are pressing the headcount? I kinda let those things settle out on their own. In my current tank I observe a few trochus do as much or more than all the other inverts taken together, but they don't stir sand like the other varieties.

In my humble experience I found that they come out of the sand bed to go up the glass because they think the "food" is up there. Once the siphons figure out the food is on the bottom the drop from the glass. If they clean your glass - it's purely incidental.

or like you said - for exercise. =)
