Snails with tails and other funky stuff

Hello, The cyanobacteria in my tank seems to be under control but now I seem to have a new problem. I am not sure what this is but I am worried that it may be dinoflagellates. It could simply be another type of pest algae. I am thinking about going lights out for a few days to see if I can knock this out but I would like to get some feed back from the group as to what this is. The attached video shows the growth in high flow areas. All water parameters are good in my 4 month old tank. Any suggestions would be helpful.

If you siphon it out does it come back in a couple hours? Dino's will usually be brown slimy algae with air bubbles in it and it will keep coming back.

This is generally the case. My water changes help but this can cloud the glass, stick to the rocks and sand and even in shaded areas of the tank. It does come back quickly.

If it's Dino's I had great success with dosing H2O2 there is a very long thread on reefcentral.

Had a few snails die so it seems to be Dino after all. The fish and corals are doing just fine but I want to clean this out quickly so I started the treatment. H2O2 was introduced at 1ML per 10 gallons and I started the 72 hour black-out. Fingers crossed. :hopelessness:

Now cutting back on H202 and installed a UV sterilizer. So far I am impressed with the new water clarity. I am hoping it will make a difference with the cyao.

Use ultra algae x by fauna marin. Works great but might knock out some inverts. Also good luck finding it. Usually sells out on most sites with in a day or two. If you can get it buy the big bottle in case you ever need it again. Also try using Kent tech M magnesium. Has something in there that algae does not like. I have knocked out bryopsis and Dino with that combo before.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

Oh and use precise measurements with the ultra algae x
