As many of you know, I had a cleaner inexplicably disappear without a trace in my 20g last month. . . no exoskeleton to be found, no nothing. Never discovered what happened, never found the shrimp, or the carcass. Now, a month later, I have a large, aggressive fire shrimp who is just an absolute mess. All of his antenae have been clipped off by something, down to numbs. His tail is banged up as well, and I noticed this morning that one of his feet is missing the last 1/8 of an inch.
Well, luckily he may be banged up, but he behaves like a cleaner even though he is a fire, so all I had to do to catch him last night was stick my hand in front of him and he climbed right up.
He is currently in time out in my refugium for his own protection until his next molt.
His fishy tank mates are a pair of clowns, a pair of bengaii cardinals, a yasha goby, an assessor basslet, and a cleaner goby.
His invert tank mates are a tiger pistol shrimp, another fire shirmp he has been with for more than a year, and a pair of cleaner shrimp. I have hermits, but no emerald, straberry, sally lightfoot or other crabs (Yes, I realize I am overstocked and I am in the process of getting a bigger tank).
Any suggestions for helping this guy recover and avoid getting banged up again?
