After running with LED/HALIDE+5/T5 Only one thing has remained certain. I like Halides over all else. It was a fluke after watching pictures of my tanks over the years that my WIFE said.. "you should go back to halides. I like T5' but it looks too bland.. no motion. Led's looks like crap and SPS suck under them but softies are nice. I approve getting MH's since it will only cost us 7 dollars more per month in electricity." - So my search began.

I know what to look for in a quality halide fixture and the run of the mill coralife's and odyssea' stuff was not going to work out for me. After some research and checking in with a friend of mine I came across this..

It's home at the house and now I need to hang it. Surprisingly its lighter than my T5 fixture but has thicker hanging cables. Guess i'll be drilling some more holes in my ceilings this easter weekend.

any thoughts?

Looks like a nice light. I agree with you on halides. I wish they would have never came out with any other light. My tanks never looked better then when i used to run halides.

For you asonitez say I don't have $1,000 for a 36" light like the one you posted
I'm setting up a 180 6'x2' tank what light would you go with since we are on the MH subject

If you were gonna do a fixture. I would try for a 6ft geissman light fixture. Otherwise

I would go with 3 lumen bright minis or lumen arc minis. I would also consider icecap pendants. I would use extruded t8 aluminum bars (like the ones aqua illumination sells for their ai's on eBay for like 8 dollars for. 12feet of it vs 200 for Ai.) use it to. Build a light frame for your icecap a or lumenarcs to fit on and hang it.

This is exactly what I planned to do if I didn't find a fixture I liked. It gives me absolute freedom to use halides t5 LEDs in any configuration I want. I can run halides for 3 hours t5 for 6 and LEDs for 8 or w/e

Plus if it's in a canopy you can add quiet high cfm fans to the fixture ensuring minimal heat transfer
