I believe hockeynut posted in the networking forum about building stands. Maybe PM him. Not sure where you are located bit I know a guy in toms river for custom cabinetry. He does some amazing work but he's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

What size tank? Also what are you plans as far as trim and finish?

it's for an 80 gal 48x24x16. i need the interior dimensions to fit my sump, which is 44"x16". i would like to get it as high as i can for ease of viewing. looking to use oak, and trim wise i figured i could get some molding on there bymyself. something simple, not too crazy. I was thinking to have the height somewhere around 40"

That seems pretty straightforward if the 16 refers to the height. 2x4's would do the trick for the frame and you can skin it with oak. I can help you build one if you want. let me know.

Sorry. My sump is 44x16x16 but I would like to get as much room in my stand as possible. I would like the overall dimensions to be 49x25x40.

There is a DIY stand building thread at reef central with some nice plans. I going to give it a try for my sump stand, but not my display. I want the DT stand to look nice. :)
But if you follow the plans, adjust for any size, you will be in business.

Here is the link to the thread and a picture of the concept...good luck!

What size tank? Did you look at www.rjaquatics.com? I ordered by stand and cap from them via AO and that am very happy with the construction and looks.
Feel free to come and take a look.
