Starfish ID

Can anyone ID this? I thought it was a small sand sifter but someone said it was an asterina and will eat my SPS. I'm starting to worry now because I won't be home for hours

Thanks. I've never seen an asterina that size or color but everyone has said thats what it is. I was really surprised when what I thought was a sandsifter crawled right past the sand and onto the glass lol.
I've heard that a very small percentage will eat corals so if I notice and strange bite marks I will be getting a harlequin shrimp lol

Yeah, in my 75g I had tons and pulled them out for people to feed their Harlequin's.

I had an asterina once that I pulled out immediately when I saw it. Then I got this brown striped one, I had no clue they could get like 3/4" wide. I would love to keep it if it doesn't bother any corals and doesn't reproduce like crazy.

There is one kind that eats Zoas, they will reproduce like crazy for sure.

If you see one, you've got 50.

That one definitely hitchhiked in yesterday and didn't come out until today. I left and haven't been able to find it since I got home. Hopefully it will appear soon and I can pull it out. If more appear though, its time for a harlequin shrimp. I love the look of harlies but didn't want to feed it live starfish. Hopefully it will eat all of them and then I can return it
