Stupid stupid stupid

Last night I reached into the tank to get something and knocked into the frag rack. Needless to say it fell. As I was retrieving everything I placed a nice frag of rainbow monti on top if my t5 light. Five minutes ago I found the frag still sitting on top of the light. You cannot begging to imagine the words that were coming out of my mouth. I can't believe I did this. Live and learn I guess.

or when you forget to turn off your skimmer when you put too much new water in.. causing it to overflow all over your floor!

or when you fill your buckets with RODI and forget to check on it only to flood the new kitchen floor put in less than a year ago with a bout an inch of water ......

Maybe we should change the title of this to live and learn :)

I do this every 2-3 weeks. I've actually developed an intricate system involving bells on string & a water bottle to try to alert me that it's full.. still doesn't work lol

That sucks. Sorry to hear this. The only thing I forgot to do was remove a plug in my old kalk / top off bucket after mixing the kalk. So, when the pump turned on to fill the sump it kept on pumping since the water wasn't returning to the sump because the line was still plugged. I woke up in the morning and found water dripping into the basement through my 1st floor. It ruined the rug and some items in the basement. At least my wife was looking to change out the rug and the homeowners covered it. I was lucky.

Sorry to hear this John. I have two stories to share that might make you feel a bit better:

1. Started making RO water and needed something from HD real quick. Figured I had a good 45 mins to an hour before the bucket would overflow. Well, HD didn't have what I needed so I then went to Lowes. Got what I needed at Lowes and when I got home, the wife wanted to go out to lunch. Well, I forgot to check the water and turn it off.... so when we come home from lunch I see water pouring under the garage door. Flooded the garage and soaked a whole bunch of boxes that we were storing for a friend.

2. Took a bunch of pics of my tank with my "waterproof" camera. Then hooked the camera up to the computer to save the pics. After checking them out, I didn't like how a couple of them came out. So I unplug the USB cord and stick the camera back under water to get some better shots. Within 2 seconds, the display went black and I knew why. I forgot to close the rubber seal over the USB connection port. :grief: I was so mad at myself for not doing that simple little thing. That's what happens when you don't pay attention I guess. Camera never worked again.
