Sunpod 150

I have a sunpod 150 MH.
The light came with the ballast inside the fixture. As it wouldnt fire the 20 radiums I converted it to use an external ballast.
My question here is now that the balast is no longer inside do I need to keep the fan that is inside the unit or can I actually take it out also?

I forgot to add that the light is inside a canopy now not sure if it would make a difference

The fan is also for the bulb itself. Personally, I wouldn't run an MH bulb without a fan for air circulation.

Do MH bulbs run more efficient when cooled down?
