Tank appreciation

So I’ve been neglecting things the past few weeks and decided today to focus on the tanks (I’ll try to find the kids tomorrow).
After a full maintenance I started getting drawn in, grabbed a noon beer, pulled up a chair, and just watched for 20-30 minutes.
Forgot how astounding cool it is just to watch all the intricacies of this mini environment play out.
Highly recommended.IMG_6873.jpegIMG_6871.jpegIMG_6867.jpeg

You mean the kids weren't under a rock in the tank.

I too can spend an hour looking my tank, usually asking my self all sorts of questions. How's the lighting? How's the flow? It's pushing up those meat corals, but everything looks great. Is that purple and green candy cane too big now of that spot? Do I move it, and where? Or, do I need to frag it back? Wait, where's the midas blend? Oh, and where's the leopard wrasse? Then I rinse and repeat from the left side and then the right. Hmm, wonder if I should hit them with some reef roids? And, on and on and on.

Yes, need to appreciate the beauty but also check for potential problems. Because of this thread looked at the tank and noticed diatoms. Strange as nothing changed. Then realized one power head wasn't working. I assume the power outage is the culprit. Pulled it and soaking in vinegar bath for now. Hope it's just dirty and not broke.
